with a slight hint of smattering.

like a painted deathbed
or a sword to the head.

LifeI’ve seen the world with these two eyes.
A movie played inside my mind.
I’ve traveled the seas in half the time
Without ever leaving home.

I’ve spread my wings but didn’t fly
I’ve touched heaven, but I didn’t die
Had the chance to ask God why
Without ever receiving an answer.

I’ve count the stars and made to ten
Lost track and had to start again.
People laughed, but that’s how we make friends

I dance in clown shoes.

You compose your conversations.
Fitfully gesturing with whatever you hold,
ending arguments with a flourish.
Make a point, now whirl, quickly.
Make it impossible to counter with your unpunctuation.
You duck and weave, spin, sidestep, pirouette:
One, two, one, two, faster, harder, stronger.
You leave me confused and two steps back,
just far enough behind to appear lost and unsure.
And if I catch up, if I make a point,
you spin again, a trail of words falling like pixie dust
as you make your escape.
And as you storm out, you slam the period behind you,
Ending your sentence with a door.

On Parabola

With subatomic subtlety settling on his brow,
he said 'Time's a broken arrow
that points from then to now.'
Once a grain, I entreated him
to stop this flow of sand,
'You're immersed in the irreversible
until, entropical, I land.'

In that glass all is hours,
the busted bucket and the spade,
and each collapsing castle
that our spilt ice cream made.

the eucalypts, they are always eucalypts
hiding themselves behind
the dull green of an olive veneer
their response to spring is muted
but the flowers are still there

they sing, these eucalypts
a song of drumming rejoicing
but you need to listen
for their voices are deeper
tuned to the bush itself

Heaven's not a place, just an emotion
life never stops its never-ending motion
tears don't have to come from your eyes
for it to be accurate to say you cried

Screams don't have to be shouted out loud
for silence is in itself a sound
"lost" doesn't mean it isn't there
simply that it causes too much pain to bear

Misconception is the child who was never meant to be
abuse is a prison from which they'll never break free
wounds will always heal, but scars forever remain
in the same way that blood can forever stain

Hell is not a state of being but a state of mind
though it feels like a way out you'll never find
every door is truly an amazing illusion
what you see past it is thought and action in fusion

"Filthy mistake" means that this is your fault not mine
but still across my back there's a contradictory red line
I'm telling you all this because now it is my turn
and I'll make you pay, though I know you'll never learn
